[Metro Seoul] The Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (BCCEI) announced that it has successfully concluded the 'Global Busan Workation with Hoppin' event, held from the 1st to the 29th of last month in collaboration with the global workation startup 'Hoppers.' A total of 81 overseas 'digital nomads' attended the event to experience Busan-style workation.
BCCEI collaborated with the global startup Hoppers to provide participants with co-working and co-living programs utilizing Busan's workation base centers and satellite centers. While handling their work, digital nomads enjoyed the city's charms by experiencing Busan's representative tourist attractions, such as paddleboarding and yachting in Gwangalli.
Additionally, through weekly networking programs like 'W-Day' and 'Fireside Chat' held during the event period, digital nomads from various countries and young entrepreneurs in Busan shared their experiences and discussed possibilities for business cooperation.
In particular, during the final week, a Global Digital Nomad Forum involving Korean and Japanese participants was held to discuss the potential for Busan to leap forward as a global workation city.
Participants exchanged opinions on Busan's role as a digital nomad hub and the synergy created when linked with Japan. They also listened to diverse insights from global participants to share ideas on Busan's future development direction.
The overall satisfaction with the event was high at 4.8 points. Participants responded particularly well to community events where they could share business experiences and gain new inspiration through networking among participants.
Participants highly rated Busan for its relatively low cost of living compared to Seoul and convenient public transportation. They also expressed satisfaction with the facilities of the workation base center, where they could focus on work while enjoying an ocean view.
They also impressively mentioned the experience of being with Korean friends and feeling a sense of community through networking.
Jeong Yu-na, PM at BCCEI, stated, "Busan is now leaping beyond a simple tourist destination to become a hub for global digital nomads," adding, "Through this event, we have prepared an important opportunity for Busan to firmly establish itself as a global workation city."
Meanwhile, Busan City and BCCEI opened a Busan-style workation base center last year and are actively promoting the workation business. They are collaborating with local governments in Busan and local companies to revitalize the local society and economy by increasing the living population to respond to regional extinction and attracting offshore companies.
